A Wish Come True

I never really believed that wishes could actually come true. To be honest I thought anyone who did were either hopeless or delusional. That was until I experienced it myself. I never judged anyone for believing ever again.

Unlike me, my mother always believed in days like Hıdırellez. She would make wishes and tell me that it worked. I wouldn’t believe this of course since I never noticed anything different in her life. But this year something was different. This year, I decided to try this “wish making” tradition of ours. The night that connects 5th of May to the 6th I made a wish before going to sleep. I wished for something impossible. Just to see if it was going to happen without it having any chance to be a coincidence. I wished to have a time machine under my pillow.

When I woke up, I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. It wasn’t anything that looked like a time machine. In fact, It was just a gigantic clock under my pillow. I sat up and began inspecting it. I tried to move the minute hand, nothing happened. I didn’t give up though. This time I tried to move the hour hand. Again, nothing happened. Then I saw this tiny 3rd hand on the clock. It wasn’t moving at all so it couldn’t be a seconds hand. With a hint of hesitation, I moved it back. I found myself under my sheets, waking up again. It had worked! But then, I thought to myself, how was I going to go back to now? Or was I ever going to be able to? I tried to move the 3rd hand forward this time. Now I was back to the time I was supposed to be in. How amazing was this? I could go to the antient times, talk to my ancestors, I could even meet my parents’ teen versions! The only problem was that I couldn’t walk around with a giant clock in my arms. I decided to wish for a smaller version next year.

Although this seems like a very fun experience, I can’t say that I felt guilty I doubted my mother for so long. I also regret that I didn’t believe it sooner. Just imagine what I could’ve had until now!
