An Ethical Universe

We have all heard of this Word ‘ethics’ and we are all encouraged be ethical. What does ethics mean? And how do we act it?

Ethics are a set of principles which guide our behaviour and choices which contribute to the common good of society. Ethics help us make better choices which in turn makes the World a better place for all.

Ethics by definition is: Moral principles that govern a person’s behaviour or the conducting of an activity.

A set of moral principles, especially ones relating to or affirming a specified group, field, or form of conduct.

To put it simply, ethics is a system of moral principles. They affect how people make decisions and lead their lives. Ethics is concerned with what is good for individuals and society and is also described as moral philosophy.

The most common personal ethics are honesty, loyalty, respect, responsibility, selflessness. Ethics guide us to tell the truth, keep our promises, help those in need, and simply make better choices with positive impacts towards making a better World for all.

Although these ethics are commonly known throughout the World, unfortunately not everyone abides by them. The evidence for this is in the fact that we have police, courts, and jails. If everyone was trustworthy, honest and responsible we wouldn’t have thieves and murderers.

Although the world is a diverse place, and cultures have their own ethical and moral values, there are some ethical values that are accepted by the majority of the world.

If this wasn’t the case, the World would probably be full of criminals, people with no car efor one another or the environment at all.

Fortunately, the World does have more people making better ethical choices that those who are not.

If ethical values were universal, the world would be a more livable place. We wouldn’t need law and governance for people’s behaviour. Everyone would know how to behave in the best possible way, and the World we live in would be a more happy and safe place to live.

We wouldn’t have theft because people would be honest and reliable and trustworthy, we wouldn’t have murder because people would be more helpful instead of being full of hate. Having responsible people would mean we would have a society of people knowing what they need to do and take accountability.

Although we still have a long way, maybe one day everyone would be more ethical in their behaviours on a way to make a better World for tomorrow.
