Can Chickens Fly?

Science and art are like the wings of a bird. Societies that can use these two wings fly and become free. Those who can’t fly are chickens. While the “Chicken Society” pecks a handful of bait thrown in front of it, it doesn’t even realize it’s been taken from behind.

As we live in a world ruled by the system, we somehow became the pawns of it. Not much of us being aware of that, we got captivated. As Charles Darwin mentions, most of the societies are “hen herds” that are afraid to use their wings to fly.

Chickens and their wings are the metaphor here which represents the illiterates and the way that they do not show the effort to use their intelligence and innate abilities.

There are ways to enhance ourselves and learn how to fly through science and art. I believe societies who have the inquisitive learning abilities have more free minds which lead them to become better societies.

With science, our lives had become easier. Science has given man the chance to pursue societal concerns such as ethics, aesthetics, education, and justice; to create cultures; and to improve human conditions. Also, science is one of the most important channels of knowledge. It has a specific role: creating new knowledge, as well as a variety of functions for the benefit of our society.

With art, society can be influenced by changing opinions, instilling values and translating experiences across space and time. People say that art affects the fundamental sense of self. By flourishing our sense of self, we can learn how to use our wings and become much closer to achieving our freedom. And also, we can be capable of discerning what is going around us.

In the long run, it can be hard learning how to fly since it is not as easy as to walk but baby steps count too. At first, people can wobble while flying or even fall but that should not be an obstacle to try again and again.

Speaking non-metaphorically; in order to fly, we have to encourage people to read, make researches, explore themselves and create. Provided that the society turns out more involved in science and art, they would be more capable of using their own wings. “All that is valuable in human society depends upon the opportunity for development accorded the individual.” says Albert Einstein.

Becoming a chicken society is a quandary that we have to face, otherwise our wings would be non worthy.
