Dance In The Dark

It was again one of the long breathless moments of the night. The clouds stretched out like a quilt across the sky, wrapped in thin lace around the moon. I, on the other hand, was walking on my own, drifting into the darkness without knowing where I was going. If I had been immersed in it, I couldn’t even remember which path I had taken. I was standing in a street as deep as the ocean, and in front of me was a castle-like building of a size I had never seen in my life.As soon as the phone came, I thought about how I got out of the house. Why was I in such a hurry, standing at the beginning of this dark street, at the head of the building that I could not perceive? I decided to leave everything aside and look at this magical street. It had a gloomy atmosphere, as if no one had taken a step into this thin endless street for years. At the end of the street, there was a forest-like tree paradise, but I couldn’t say that it looked like paradise at this silent cloak night. With a soft light filtering through the grass I watched them all soar in one direction as the fireflies slowly began to dance in the air. It turned out that the huge, impressive building I saw while walking through the pitch blackness of the damp, cold night was a school. As the fireflies touched the places where the lamps were, as if by magic, the lamps flashed suddenly. Its lights illuminated every nook and cranny, ridiculing the somber, silent cloak of the night like a persistent mustard stain on funeral attire. The street was still dark, but it felt brighter in my inner world.I simply chose to take in this wonderful spectacle at that very moment. I gradually started to feel the raindrops delicately on my skin. I might have just let myself cry since I didn’t want to suppress it. As the rains pounded like they were following the dance of the firefly, I started to go rapidly in the direction of the school. With a single push, the massive school doors opened as if to welcome me. Since the rain had no intention of stopping at that point, it seemed like a good idea to wander around the school grounds a little. I had already faded from the utter silence of my thoughts and the nothingness inside of my head.  Little fireflies floated in a circle around my feet, seemingly directing each of my steps.  Even though I made an effort to convince myself that everything was a dream, I found myself lost in this magnificent building’s maze. While I was going up and down the stairs, left and right, I found myself in a classroom with glass all over. The pouring rain, the dim street lights, the gentle swaying of the trees presented themselves as if they had come out of a painting. From a distance, music started to ascend and slowly make itself known. In order for me to never have to close my eyes to remember this moment again, I inscribe it in my mind with the tiniest tones, sparkling accompaniment, for the last time.
