GENUINE SINGER

GENUINE SINGER

All my life, I have always admired people who have achieved something through difficulties. As a result of my interest in music and my research on music, it is written that many musicians have reached the best point with great difficulties. There are some artists that I personally admire. They are all very precious to me, strangely enough, even though I have never seen them before, I love them very much and would do anything to be with them. I love rock and metal music. One of the rock music artists, Freddie Mercury is my biggest idol. But if I were to do an interview today, I would definitely interview Ezhel, one of the most important artists of Turkish rap.

Ezhel was born and grew up in Ankara. He lived in the Cebeci district of Ankara and spent his youth on the streets. In 2007, his music life started in a studio in Kızılay. Ezhel has made songs that reflect the streets of Ankara for many years. He has written a lot of songs about youth, the country and about drugs. What I love about Ezhel’s songs is that it really reflects what the truth is. No matter where I am, that feeling arises when I listen to his songs about the streets of Ankara. In my opinion, an artist who can achieve this is a really good artist. Ezhel, who was prosecuted for promoting drugs in the songs he wrote, was arrested. After he was released, he left Turkey and settled in Germany. One of the periods that affected his life the most was the year 2019. So if I had an interview with Ezhel, it would probably have gone like this:

I went to Germany and met Ezhel at the Berlin concert. While we talk about how much I love and admire him, his assistants pick us up to take us to Munich. He will host me at his house in Munich, and then we will go to his studio for the interview. The first thing I would ask in the interview would be to talk about himself. Where was he born, how was his childhood, and what are his hobbies. Then we talk about what inspired him to write the Song. I ask how he could write such meaningful songs. Since the lawsuit against him in Turkey is because of a song, I ask questions about that song. I’ll ask why you wrote that song if it’s true that you used drugs. Finally, I asked him if he was considering coming to Turkey and we would talk about it. After the interview is over, we will listen to the new song he is working on and chat together.

I have a lot of respect for artists, I think it’s very nice that they dare to do this work. I have much more admiration and respect for artists, especially those who came to their position with difficulties. Ezhel is my favorite Turkish artist, and I want his efforts to pay off. That he can return to his country as soon as possible and have the opportunity to give us a concert.
