Lord of Flies

Lord of Flies is a great novel of British author William Golding (19 September 1911 – 19 June 1993).  This novel written in 1954. In 1963 and 1990 they made films about this book. Also William Golding won Nobel Prize with Lord of Flies.

Story is about group of young boys who find themselves alone on a deserted island in Pacific Ocean. There was a world war and airplane which carries children crashes. There were no adults around the deserted island. Story begins with Ralph and Piggy (we won’t learn his real name). They meet and walk around the island to understand where they are. Ralph finds a sea shell and blow to it. Children who hear the sound, go up to Ralph and Piggy. Piggy ask names of children and trying to memorise them. Then, the boys use a sea shell as a talking stick, and Ralph, one of the older boys, becomes chief and Jack becomes hunter. After a while, they are afraid of a beast somewhere on the island, and then they decide to build a signal fire using the glasses of Piggy. One of the children dies in the fire and that won’t be the last death.

Lord of Flies seems like a child novel but it is not. It is too meaningful and qualified story. We learn that innocent kids can do hard hearted things when they are at the end of one’s rope. Everyone should read and recommend this book to the others.
