Technology Era

We sleep with the internet and social media and wake up with them. We live together with technological tools and we use them constantly in our daily life. Maybe in the future, robots equipped with artificial intelligence will start to rule people. Every time our smartphone beeps, we feel like we have to look at it immediately. It has become so important for us how much we are liked on social media, how much we write and share, how much we are watched… Sometimes we become such that we have no different from a robot. However, we are human beings and we have feelings, we have a soul and a heart to be hurt. We have a health and environment that will be adversely affected by what we do. Sometimes I can’t help but think, did the technological tools and the internet dull our feelings so much? Imagine you wake up one day in a world without technology – all the computers on the planet just disappeared. What would it be like to live in a planet without any technological devices at all?

Technology brought us machines, computers, cars and aeroplanes. It made the world smaller by providing good communication tools, made it possible to explore the solar system and the universe and proved the significance in human advancement. First of all, you’d wake up late because your smartphone alarm no longer exists. Once the initial shock of the situation has passed, you will begin to prepare for work. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to turn on the lights, take a shower, or brush your teeth. Why? Electricity, gas and water are managed by the public services by gigantic computer systems. The evening’s entertainment would be limited to reading by candlelight or playing an acoustic instrument. You’d conclude that you never want to go a day without technology again. To say that our society would go haywire for a day without technology is an understatement. Without technology, society would regress at least 50 years. Fortunately, technology is everywhere. Because of this, you will probably never have to go a day without cell phones, social media, and tech gadgets unless you choose to.

The technology is not the problem. It’s the way we use it. If we only use it as a tool rather than an escape from reality, then all is well. Technology was created to make your life easier, that’s the main purpose.
