To My Future Child

My Dear Future Child,

If you are reading this, know that it was written when I was in your age. I wrote this letter for you. Here, I will tell some of the experiences I’ve had and what I learnt from them. Hopefully this letter will also help you in certain situations. I’ll explain 3 of the most important things I’ve learnt till now.

1- Who Are You?                                                                                                                                                              Do you know yourself well? Or, do you think you know yourself well? I believe that one of the most important things to do in this life is knowing yourself. You may think that you know yourself well. Sayıng that I love bla bla and hate bla bla. But the thing is that, an average human life is nearly 90 years, nowadays. Throughout this process, you change a lot, and so does your memories. But, what does guarantee that we can possibly think of ourselves as the same person over a lifetime? That’s one of the reasons why I think knowing yourself well is something necessary. Please think about this.

2- Be happy                                                                                                                                                                     Do you know what makes you happy? Can be a gift, a party, or even some adranaline can do and etc. You’d think, right? But the thing is that, I don’t think you need anything to be happy. ‘Cause, the thing everyone should realize is that the key to happiness is being happy by yourself, and for yourself. Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking. Where ever you are, whatever you’re doing, just look around you. The noises, the people, the view, the weather, the mood. And that’s all you need.

3- Stay In the Moment                                                                                                                                                     Have you ever thought about what could happen in the future and how stressfull it’d be? Or even, your past mistakes and regrets you have made? And noticed how you’re continiously doing this? If that is so, and you’d want to change this, I have a very important tip; now, is the most precious thing. Realize deeply that the present moment is all you have. Make the now, the primary focus in your life. Also remember that life is not a rehearsal. Live today as if it were your last. The past is gone, and the future is not guaranteed.

Hopefully, these things I’ve learnt would also be helpful to you,      -Your mom
