Women… They are the ones who face difficulties in life most of the time. They are the ones who can turn into a fighter pilot when the occasion comes to be a mother. Sometimes she is the one who shows compassion even if her enemy is injured. She lives every second of her life with dignity and compassion. If someone treat as a kick in the teeth they will never be remain silent. They are the same in all areas of life. They have heard their names everywhere from fashion to politics, from science to sports.

 

Gabrielle “Coco” Bonheur Chanel , French fashion designer and founder of the brand ”Chanel” by adding the concept of comfort to fluffy skirts, fancy hats and other exaggerated elegance, she created her own style that prioritizes comfort. In addition to the luxury fashion house he founded with his uncompromising attitude and revolutionary spirit, he continues to keep his legacy alive with the traces he left in the fashion world. She said, “One cannot innovate forever. I want to create classics” and became one of the most important designers in the world. She also designed Turkish military uniforms at Atatürk’s request in 1930. The Turkish army carried his signature until the 1980s.

 

Polish-born chemist and physicist Marie Curie, who is known worldwide for her many important achievements in the name of science, made her mark in history as the first woman scientist to receive a Nobel Prize. Curie, who pioneered his work on uranium, is also regarded as the founder of radioactive science. She discovered radioactivity as a result of his experiments with uranium. She discovered the radioactive property of thorium and decomposed the element radium. With this groundbreaking invention, she invented the x-ray herself.

 

Sabiha Gökçen, Turkey’s first female pilot, is also Atatürk’s adopted daughter. Military pilot Gökçen, who has improved herself in this field because she believes that Turkish women can be successful in every field, was awarded with the “Murassa  Medal No. 9” for her achievements in the field of aviation. In 1991, she was awarded the International Aviation Federation Gold Medal. In this way, Sabiha Gökçen became the first woman to receive this award among the 20 aviators who made their mark on world aviation history at the Eagles Meeting held in the USA. Sabiha Gökçen also worked as an academician at the pilot academy founded by Vecihi Hürkuş and passed on what she learned to future generations.

 

Feryal Özel, one of the most prominent scientists of today’s astronomy world, has a career full of success. She had a great impact with her thesis at Harvard University. Feryal Özel, who gave astrophysics lectures at the University of Arizona after working as a researcher at NASA, is also the owner of the “Maria Goeppert” award given to the most successful astrophysicists by the American Astrophysical Association in 2013. She is also among the members of the Turkish Academy of Sciences. The thing that gave her this success is that she took part in the team that took the first black hole photograph in history. She also currently serves as the Chairman of the NASA Astrophysics Committee.

 

Women will always remain an important part of society. Their names will be written in golden letters in history with the achievements they have made and achieved. They are the ones who enthusiastically want to help their community and the world without breaking their stance. As Atatürk said ”Ey kahraman Türk kadını , sen yerde sürüklenmeye değil , omuzlarda göğe yükselmeye layıksın.” Women and women…
