A Dinner With King James

One day, I met LeBron James and his sons, Bryce and Bronny James, at LeBron’s restaurant in Los Angeles.
LeBron ate two slices of beef with some French fries, and I had a burger with fries too. First, we talked about the NBA and basketball. We also talked about his upcoming games with his new teammate, Luka Dončić.

Now, he is forty years old, but he is still the king of the NBA. We watched his sons’ basketball highlights on YouTube. I was amazed and asked him, “How can you still play so well?”

He said, “My secret is practicing every day and every time I have free time. If you practice, you can play well at any age—because practice makes perfect.”
I thought his advice was really meaningful.

He signed and gave me a basketball, a pair of shoes, and a Los Angeles Lakers uniform with his name on it. I said, “Thanks for the food and for the gifts.” Then I asked if he could give me his phone number—and he did!

We said goodbye to each other and went home.
It was one of the greatest days of my life.
