One day, when I woke up, my mom spoke to me in English. I wanted to ask why she was speaking English, but when I opened my mouth, I was speaking English too! I couldn’t speak Turkish at all. I could only speak English.
There was an English exam that day. I thought I would pass easily because I suddenly knew every grammar rule. Normally, I hadn’t studied English for months, but now I knew everything. I even started writing down grammar rules so I could remember them every day.
I quickly got ready for school. I was very excited because everyone I heard was speaking English. When I entered the classroom, all my classmates were speaking English. I went to the teachers’ room and even heard our Turkish teacher speaking English. I knew she didn’t know much English before, so I was very surprised.
I asked her what was happening. She said, “Today everyone speaks English,” and she showed me the news. The world was becoming a better place because all world leaders could understand each other in English. Because of this, leaders from different countries were meeting to talk about world problems together.
I was shocked but also very happy. I ran back to my classroom to tell my friends the news. When the lessons started, I was so excited because I always wished every lesson could be in English. And that day, it really happened.
After school, I went home and told everything to my mom. She was happy about the good news and also about my excitement. I had always wished for a day like this.
But when bedtime came, I felt a little sad. I didn’t want this special day to end. I lay in bed hoping that tomorrow everyone would still speak English.
