Imagine a day when you can see emotions in colors. Well, that was one of those days.
When I first woke up, I didn’t understand anything. Then I saw my mother, and I noticed the color blue around her. I asked, “Mom, why are you blue?” She replied, “Oh no, that day has finally come.” At first, I didn’t understand, but then my mother explained that everyone could see emotions in colors. I was shocked.
We went to school together. In the car, I asked my mother, “What does blue mean?” She said, “You’ll understand.” Then I remembered the movie Inside Out, where blue represents sadness. I asked, “Then why are you sad?” She answered, “Your father and I are getting divorced.”
When I heard this, I felt very sad. I was about to cry, but I didn’t want anyone to know. So I started thinking about funny videos and began giggling. My mother asked, “Why are you giggling?” I replied, “I don’t want anyone to know that I’m sad.”
After she dropped me off at school, I went inside and kept giggling. Then my friend came and asked, “Why are you giggling?” I said, “For no reason.” But her color was orange — anxiety, like in Inside Out. I asked, “Are you anxious too?” She said, “Yes, I’m worried about my math test.” I told her, “You’ll do well. You’re smart.” She smiled, and I said, “Your color will turn yellow,” because yellow represents happiness.
After a long day at school, I went home. My father’s color was red — anger. He told me again that he and my mother were getting divorced. I didn’t say anything. I went to my room and fell asleep.
The next morning, everything was normal. There were no colors around people anymore, and my parents had solved their problems. We were a happy family again. When I arrived at school, I saw my friend and asked, “Did you pass the exam?” She said, “Yes!” It was a very happy day for all of us.
