Financial Responsibility: A Step into The Adult World

How would you feel stepping into the unknown world of taxes, budgets and finances? Nowadays being financially independent is a crucial skill especially for young adults. That leaves us with a question. Why is such a crucial skill not taught at schools?

On the one hand, some people argue that people under eighteen shouldn’t be put under the stress of economics. Therefore, it isn’t suitable as a subject. In addition, minority of the students believe that learning about finances is something that should be done at home instead of school where the academics are the priority.

On the other hand, the ones who are in the favour of the idea have stated how beneficial it would be to learn how to pay taxes, handle debts or make a budget. Since it develops a sense of financial responsibility and independency. Furthermore, as a result of early education smart spending habits will be encouraged which reduces impulsive buying.

To conclude, evidently this topic has its benefits and drawbacks. However, the overall benefits outweigh the drawbacks. I strongly believe that finances should be taught at school to raise financially responsible and reasonable people.
