Dear Children of Earth,
I have been watching you for a very long time. You are a constantly changing presence on my surface, both wondrous and troubling. I write to you from the depths of my roots, from the winds that shape the hills, the rivers that carve through time, and the ancient trees that have witnessed all that has been. The damage you have caused is heartbreaking.
From the beginning, I provided. I offered the soil, the air, the water. You took these gifts without understanding their true value. I gave you a shelter beneath my skies and beside my oceans. You lived with me in balance and peace.
But as time passed, you began to forget. You grew larger and with that, you tried to bend me to your will. Forests were cut, seas were drained, the earth was burned and habitats were destroyed. The creatures who once roamed the land in harmony with you became shadows in your wake. As you push deeper into my veins, I feel your greed for more land and resources.
The traces of the past-the ancient forests, the sunken cities, the echoes of life long gone-are still with me. They are not forgotten. When you look at a cracked stone or a weathered hill, you know it carries the memory of what it was. I feel the pain. I am wounded by this but I do not despair. What you have taken can heal but only if you change your ways. You see, I still hold hope. You are still young and it is not too late to remember what you once knew. You should know that we are not separate. We are one.
The pain of today is not permanent. The fires that rage, the ice that melts, the species that disappear-they are not the end. They are a wakeup call. If you listen, if you change, I will recover. I will be beautiful once more, and so will you. The future isn’t written yet, and I have seen you rise to greatness before. You can choose the path of healing and harmony. You can build cities that breathe, economies that can develop without devouring, lives that honour the sanctity of the Earth.
Look at the feature with courage to heal. Let us walk together again, hand in hand. Remember the balance we once shared. You are a part of me, and I am a part of you. Let that truth guide you forward.
With hope,
Nature
