Technology in the Field of Education

Whether you like it or not technology is a big part of our lives in the big 25. We have seen different integrations of technology on pretty much every part of our lives, ranging from cars with massive touchscreens to AI models that replace humans.

AI has been slowly making its way into the education space, with iPads replacing textbooks and GPTs replacing tutors. To be honest I haven’t seen it coming, since I was surprised when I saw everyone suddenly starting to ditch traditional textbooks and alternating to more modern ways such as tablets and laptops. But is it really beneficial to add yet another screen to our daily basis? Well it depends, some people prefer learning the old way rather than another eye sore, however, that is a minority. Since it is easier for a student to access all of his notes the studying efficiency has seen a great improvement. Despite not being 100 percent accurate the speed of AI models are astonishing. They provide great improvement to my workflow because I can just access all the information I need in seconds despite doing minutes of research which still doesn’t guarantee a correct piece of information.

Despite all the amazing aspects of implementing technology to the field of education, it is not all sunshine and rainbows. Many problems arise from this cause because of how “new” it is. The moderation is more challenging for the teachers as they h

ave to check students screens to make sure they are not playing games or scrolling through social media. Another problem however is the technical issues. Textbooks never run out of battery, or get a driver error. Reliability of tech has come a long way, but they’re still far from perfect.

Technology has its ups and downs and its efficiency compared to traditional methods are arguable, however it sure is the way of our future and we better get used to it.
