As I walked into the café, my heart pounded in my chest. It had been years since I had last seen her. The moment our eyes met, time seemed to freeze. “When I saw her in front of me, my heart almost jumped out of my chest,” I thought. She looked the same, yet different—more mature, more distant.
She smiled, but there was sadness behind it. “It’s been a while,” she said softly. I nodded, unable to find the right words. The weight of our past, of everything left unsaid, hung between us.
“I never got to say goodbye,” I finally whispered.
She sighed. “Maybe we were never meant to have one.”
For a moment, we just sat there, two souls tangled in memories. Then, with one last glance, she stood up and walked away. And I knew—this time, it really was goodbye.
