Importance of Agriculture

With the increasing technology, value of the mineral reserves used in production of technologies increased. Countries which are paradise of mineral reserves like China can sustain their manufacture without being dependent to any other country. And the countries don’t have enough mineral reserves in their lands, spending billions of dollars to buy them every year. The importance of mineral reserves can be understood better with USA’s aggressive politics on Canada and Greenland. Both Canada and Greenland are a paradise of mineral reserves which makes them a target. Also, elements like uranium and thorium are used as a fuel in nuclear centrals. For understanding how important nuclear energy is, Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant meets a quarter of Ukraine’s electricity needs. And for using nuclear energy you need to have mineral reserve or your country must spend billions of dollars for buying them. Even after all of this advantages of being a paradise of mineral reserves is not as important as being rich in agricultural land. Best example for this is Africa. Whole continent of Africa is a paradise of mineral reserves but still most of them are not in a good situation. The main reason for this, big majority of African countries are in trouble with feeding the increasing population. You can’t wait people to educate themselves and help their countries while they don’t have access to fresh food and water. There are countries in a good position in Africa like South Africa, but even they are in trouble because of the lack number of lands that suitable for agriculture. On the other hand, we have countries like Türkiye and Brazil which are rich in agricultural land. Coffee is responsible from %10 percent of Brazil’s GDP alone, which means agriculture have very big effect on Brazil’s economy. Also, they have more than 200 million people but it’s not causing much trouble because they are quite rich in agricultural land. Shortly, for being an independent and strong country being rich in agricultural land is more important than any other thing.
