The Day I Heard Everyone’s Thoughts

One morning, I woke up and realized I could hear everyone’s inner voice. At first, I thought I was dreaming. But as I walked to school, I heard whispers in my mind. “I hope no one sees my pimple,” thought a girl passing by. “I forgot to do my homework,” came from a boy behind me. It was like reading people’s diaries without permission.

At first, it was fun. I knew what teachers were going to ask, and I always had the right answers. But soon, it became too much. I heard sadness, fear, jealousy, and secrets. A classmate who smiled every day was actually feeling lonely. My best friend was jealous of me, though he never said a word.

By the end of the day, I wanted to shut it off. I learned something important — what people show on the outside is not always what they feel inside. That night, I wished for silence. And the next morning, it was.
