One morning, I woke up and realized I could hear everyone’s inner voice. Since the day I realized this, nothing has been the same. At first, I thought it was just a dream, but it turned out to be real. I could hear the inner voices of everyone around me, even if they weren’t speaking.
The morning I first realized this when I woke up and went to the kitchen to my mother I understood I could hear their inner voices. My mother didn’t notice me and wasn’t speaking but I heard her thinking “I should wake up Zeynep soon, otherwise she’ll be late for school.” At first, I didn’t understand and was very surprised. I stood frozen for a while, and when my mother turned around and noticed me, she said “Good morning” and that’s when I came to my senses. That day, when I went to school, I confirmed that I could hear their inner voices. But for a while, I kept wondering why I could hear their inner voices and why they had chosen me.
That year, I was going to turn 18. I had heard that some people undergo changes when they turn 18, but these changes were usually special powers like becoming stronger, being able to fly, or having abilities to help others. At first, I thought I had received such a power too, but I kept convincing myself that reading minds couldn’t help people, so this must be something different. One day, I couldn’t take it anymore and told my mother that I could hear peoples inner voice. My mother gave a very different react than I expected, as if she had been waiting for me to say it. She told me that it was normal, that people who are kind and helpful could be given such powers, and that I should use this power properly, or it could be taken away from me. She warned me not to use it for bad things and reminded me not to tell anyone.
Since the day I talked to my mother, everything started to make more sense. I hadn’t told anyone about it. I wasn’t sure if this situation had worked in my favor; sometimes, I thought I couldn’t truly understand people as I heard their inner voices. That’s why this power helped me understand the world better. Now, I’m waiting to use this power for the right purpose.
