On The Workers

Today, May 1, is Labor Day. Again, as always, they hold demonstrations and marches to defend the rights of workers and to show the difficulties of their labor. Are these workers exactly innocent or do they have a bad side? Let’s take a look.

To begin with, the importance of workers has increased, especially with the effect of the industrial revolution, both in the increasing human needs with the increasing factories and in the structures for the needs of these people. However, in the early periods, the rights of the workers were not given much importance – not counting the fact that women and children worked as slaves as cheap workers in the factories from morning to night – but thanks to the actions and protests of the workers in the factories, at least non-governmental organizations such as unions were established for the workers. Here, of course, it is necessary to consider the rights of the workers, who are subject to the salary that the worker who works in a weaving factory with the labor of his hands for so long is subject to receive the salary he deserves. After all, aren’t workers the backbone of society, without them the economy is in danger of collapsing (!). Can we talk about such a thing anymore? And by machines and artificial intelligence improving day by day, taking over jobs from people and leaving people unemployed. What should be done at such a time, should we create the chaos – the revolution – mentioned in “The Iron Heel”? Or should we learn to be with those who are? The choice depends on the thought of the workers and the time.

On the other hand, workers are pressured to defend their rights by both their bosses and the government. The most obvious reason for this is that they both try to protect their own methods. Because they are afraid that if the workers can rise up, other people will one day be emboldened and make a revolution. But is there a limit to this? Is it fair to give them the rights they deserve by considering every factory accident as the fault of the workers? Well, if you have come to power, act with the responsibility of the rank you have given. No, “my strength is too much, I’ll crush you.” No, “I’ll appoint a trustee for your business.” You use expressions such as, O you who are at the beginning!

Anyway, to sum up, workers were one of the main components of that sector that worked in the industrial part of society. Now, with the effect of developing technology, the classical worker logic has started to disappear gradually. However, for the workers who are still working, we should both give them the wages they deserve with the necessary policies, take out health insurance for accidents that may occur, and move forward in identifying the workers who are used as cheap people in the country due to these migrations. If I connect it from here, with the presence of irregular migrants, both unskilled people come to power and act against business ethics and rules, and the country suffers both in terms of workers’ rights and economy as more immigrants start to arrive due to the fact that these immigrants are not detected. The remedy for these problems can only be possible by securing the borders with the right policies to ensure the departure of these immigrants, determining the wages that workers deserve according to the hours they work – all of which, of course, will be adjusted fairly and globally – and providing insurance for the needs of the workers.

In other words, although the workers are starting to disappear, they are in a really difficult situation due to both the emergence of the cheap working class due to irregular migration and the rights of the existing workers due to both the state and unskilled bosses. For this, it can be prevented by securing the country’s borders, eliminating this cheap working class and giving the workers the wages they deserve. I hope that these solutions will be applied to our workers, who are decreasing despite the increasing technology.
