I think social media have bad effects on young people mental health when use too much. Many young people spend many hours every day on apps like TikTok, Instagram or Snapchat. This can make them feel lonely, sad or even depressed. They see perfect pictures of other people and start to compare. They think, “why my life not like that?” This is not good for confidence.
Also, too much time online make young people sleep less. They stay on phone at night, scrolling and not sleeping. This make them tired at school or work. They can’t focus good and feel stress. Some people also get addicted. They check phone every minute and feel bad when no likes or comments. This is not healthy mind.
Another problem is less real talking. Young people now talk more on phone than face to face. This make them shy in real life, and harder to make real friends. Social media is not always real. Many people show only good side of life, not problems.
To solve this, we need balance. People should use social media, but not too much. Maybe 1 or 2 hour per day. Also, take breaks. Spend more time outside, with family or doing hobbies. Parents and schools should teach how to use internet in good way. Not just say “no phone”, but explain why balance is important.
Government can also help. They can make laws to protect kids from bad content and limit harmful things online.
In end, social media can be good if use correct. But too much is not good for brain and heart. We must find balance and not let phone control our life. Real life is outside the screen.
