One morning, I opened my eyes and heard the bird in my room say, “Good morning!” I jumped out of bed in shock. I rubbed my eyes, but no, I wasn’t dreaming. The bird was actually speaking. Not only could it talk, but it also seemed to understand my thoughts.I ran to the garden. Our cat, Minnoş, was lazily lying down. “You finally understand me,” she said. “I’ve been trying to explain for years why my food bowl should be full every morning.” I smiled. It wasn’t just talking it was a real connection, and it felt amazing.
Throughout the day, I asked every animal I encountered the questions I had always wondered. I asked ants about their leader, dogs why they were so loyal to humans, and birds why they migrated. Each had a different answer, but there was one common thread: all of them were happy and at peace being part of nature. The most touching conversation was with a stray dog named Karabaş. I asked him what his life was like. “People are usually in a hurry and selfish,” he said. “But some offer a piece of bread or a warm glance and that brightens our entire day.” His words touched me deeply. Until then, I had never seen the world through the eyes of a stray animal.
As evening approached, I could feel my ability to talk to animals fading. I felt a pang in my heart as I said goodbye. Minnoş looked into my eyes and said, “Even if we can’t talk, we understand each other now.”
From that day on, my perspective on animals completely changed. I no longer saw them as just living creatures, but as friends with feelings, thoughts, and hopes.
