Using Technology In Our Social Life

Technology is everywhere; from the meal we bake to movies we watch. But we see the biggest effect of technology on social media, where we unfortunately spend hours. Many of us have already met with new people through social media, but do we know they are real friends?

Nowadays, most of our communication takes place on social media. I suppose most of us believe meeting people online seems much easier. All you have to do is to send a friend request and you start following them. Then you start chatting and you see you have already become friends. Also, you have a chance to reconnect with people from your past. Last month, I just found one of my old friends’ accounts and started chatting about our lives. Without social media, I’m not sure if I would be able to call her again.

Although technology helps reconnecting, it also leads to the questioning of the quality of the friendships. But we can see this reconnecting differs from real conversations. Sending some messages and posting a few pictures does not give the same pleasure as sitting in a cafe and chatting face to face. Moreover, even we meet someone via social media, they may lie about themselves. When we start chatting the will state they are the same age as you just to keep talking. They might even turn out con artists.

I believe technology can have both negative and positive sides and we have to find a way to balance and try not to have deep relationships with online friends. Because we’ll be talking about technology more often in future.
