Hi! I’m Napoli. If I had a language and I could speak, this is what I would say:
This means:
“If I had a mouth and a tongue, I’d choose Italian and show you how much I love you, but the chaos you create every night exhausts me. You are all human, and you are all brothers and sisters. For hundreds, even millions of years, I have never seen a society as brutal and cruel as yours. I mean, I’ve seen terrible things, but not every single night. Sometimes I want to scream, but I cannot open my mouth. Please, don’t do this to yourselves.”
If you want an example of what I mean, I could give thousands. But I can never fully explain the feeling of at least two cars being stolen every night, or the fear that innocent people carry when they fall asleep—wondering if they will be robbed, or if they will even wake up the next day. I can’t describe what shop owners experience, or how many security systems they install just to feel a little safe. I can’t tell you all of these things, but I can tell you one thing: it is terrifying, and I have been going through this ever since I first became a city.
So please… don’t do this.
