The Day My Mind Forgot

When I opened my eyes, I could not believe what I saw. I was in the emergency room, lying on a hospital bed with a thousand devices connected to my right hand. With an IV drip going through my veins, I started to have dreams that made absolutely no sense. I had lost my memory and had been unable to wake up since passing out during the accident.

After a couple of hours, I started to slowly wake up. I barely remember them moving me to a different bed. At first, I thought I had lost my sanity. My bone structure and my wounds made it impossible to move. I tried to speak, but I couldn’t; I felt like a puppet. I tried to talk as much as I could to explain my problem, but it was no use.

Later on, I began to feel more conscious. My mother was standing right next to me, and my father was nearby as well. I asked what had happened, and my mother told me I had fallen from the horizontal bar I used to hang on. Suddenly, I understood the situation. Just then, a nurse came to check my vitals and decided I needed a urinalysis, an MRI, and a tomography scan.

I went to the patient’s bathroom to provide a urine sample for the nurses. After that, I had the MRI scan, which I absolutely abhorred. There was a disturbing, loud noise coming from everywhere, and I had to wear heavy, gigantic earplugs to protect my ears.

When I returned to my bed, my mom stayed with me and pulled an all-nighter to look after me. Her friend showed up and brought us food since the hospital food was absolutely disgusting. Later that day, around 11:00 AM, I finally left the hospital. However, my memory is still damaged, and I cannot remember anything that happened before the accident.
