VEGETARIANISM: FRIEND OR A FOE?

As many people know vegetarianism is living solely upon fruits, vegetables, grains and nuts sometimes with the addition of products such as milk and eggs. Although it is supported by many people in my perspective it is neglecting the human health and well-being.

In a balanced human diet some vitamins, nutrients and minerals are necessary. The ones that meat is very rich in are proteins, iron and vitamin B which are really significant. For instance, iron deficiency can cause fatigue, weight gain and lower intelligence. A person can gain these nutrients from other foods but they are mostly in meats. Therefore, the amount of food a vegetarian has to consume to make up for the difference is unhealthy. That is why vegetarian people have weaker immune systems and fighting mechanisms.

Being a vegetarian means thorough planning and constant tracking. Vegetarians have some obligations to exclude meat off their diet. Such as checking labels of food, tracking nutrient intake and ensuring meals have enough protein. Planning every single food, they consume might become exhausting at some rate.

Another drawback of vegetarianism is how awkward social life can become for them. In gatherings where people are comfortable with what they eat vegetarians might feel like the odd one out which might lead to social isolation.

To conclude, health should be a person’s top priority that’s why I don’t think being a vegetarian is the right choice since it can be considered as self-destruction.
