The argument about whether everyone should be vegetarian is a big one. However, is it really better for us and the planet? Let’s look at some of the comments about this ongoing debate.
One of my friends stated that, “I think eating meat is bad for your health.” Personally, l agree with her. Eating too much red meat, like burgers and sausages, can cause health problems. A vegetarian diet with lots of vegetables, beans, and fruits is very healthy and can help you avoid these issues. But meat also provides important vitamins like iron which our bodies need. So, maybe the answer isn’t to ban meat completely, but maybe it is just to eat less of it and choose better quality food.
My other friend pointed that, “People have always eaten animals so why stop now?” It’s true that humans have eaten meat for thousands of years. However just because we’ve always done something doesn’t mean we can’t change. Today, we have supermarkets full of other foods. We also know that the meat industry can be bad for the environment and that many animals are kept and produced in poor conditions.
So, would the world be better if everyone was vegetarian? Probably it would help the environment. But making everyone stop eating meat is not realistic. A better idea is for people to be more aware of what and how much they are eating. If we all try to eat less meat and choose it carefully, we can actually make a big difference. This way, we can all help create a healthier world and a sustainable planet.
