I opened my eyes, and I couldn’t believe what I saw. The ceiling of my room was completely gone! Instead of the usual white paint, I saw thousands of tiny, sparkling stars and a huge, friendly looking moon. It was like sleeping in the middle of space, but without the cold.
I sat up fast. My bed was floating! Not high up, maybe just a meter from the floor, but definitely moving slowly, like a little boat on a calm lake. I looked out the window, and everything was different. The houses on my street were all made of giant, brightly colored lego bricks, and the trees had leaves that looked like shiny, silver coins. A cat wearing a tiny top hat walked past, carrying a miniature suitcase.
I jumped (or maybe floated?) out of bed. My pajamas had changed too. Now I was wearing a superhero cape and boots that glowed green. I felt lighter than a feather. I had to find my mom and dad but I didn’t feel scared, only super excited.
I floated down the stairs, and in the kitchen, my dad was trying to eat a bowl of cereal that kept turning into small, singing birds. My mom was laughing, trying to catch one of the birds. “Good morning, sparkle!” my mom said without looking surprised at all. “Do you want pancakes that taste like rainbows?”
I laughed. This wasn’t my house, this wasn’t my street, but it was the most amazing place ever. It was a world made entirely of imagination. I decided to try and fly to the silver coin tree. I took a deep breath, gave a small jump, and up I went! The world suddenly looked even better from above.
MY INCREDIBLE MORNING
