This morning started like a normal day, but something felt strange. When I went to the kitchen, my mom greeted me in perfect English. She spoke clearly, without making any mistakes. Normally, her English is not very fluent, so I was really surprised. We continued talking in English and understood each other easily. It felt both normal and unusual at the same time.
When I asked her what was happening, she told me to turn on the news. I thought it was a joke, but the reporter said that overnight, everyone in the world had started speaking the same language. I checked my phone and saw that social media no longer had a translation button. Online dictionaries were gone, and different alphabets were no longer being used. It was real.
For a long time, I sometimes imagined this before going to sleep. I wondered how life would change if there were no language barriers. Now that it has happened, I can see many advantages. People can communicate easily with anyone in the world. Science and business can develop faster because there is no need for translation. Everyone can access information at the same time. The world feels more connected and simpler.
However, there are also disadvantages. Languages are an important part of culture and identity. Without different languages, unique stories, jokes, and traditions may disappear. The world could become less colorful and more similar everywhere. Some people feel sad about this change.
Still, as a young person, I focus more on the positive side. I enjoy how easy communication has become and how simple it is to make new friends around the world. Even if the world has changed a lot, I feel excited to live in it.
