The students in our English class debated whether student exchange programs provide actual benefits to participating students. Some students think that going abroad for a term is the greatest way to learn a language and get familiar with a new culture. Others think that it is just too costly and that students can learn the same things from books and the internet.
Students acquire real-world skills through their international study experiences. The language surrounds them at all times which enables them to develop their speaking and listening abilities. Students have the opportunity to learn about different cultural aspects which include traditions and food and daily living. The experience can only be achieved through direct involvement which videos and textbooks cannot provide.
The expense of exchange programs creates significant financial burdens while also interrupting students’ academic progress. Families need access to financial resources which not every household possesses. Students now have the ability to access genuine materials through technological advancements which enables them to study authentic content while also making contact with native speakers via online platforms.
I believe that exchange programs deliver substantial educational advantages to students despite their high financial costs because these benefits remain inaccessible through other methods.
