The Silent World

When I woke up, there was no noise at all. Then my dog, Mai, came to me; she was actually talking. At first, I thought it was just a dream, but then she bit me—and it hurt a lot. That was when I realized it wasn’t a dream; it was real.

I ran to my mom and told her everything, but I couldn’t hear a single thing she said, even though she could hear me. Terrified, I ran back to my room. Mai suggested, “Let’s go to the garden.” When we got there, I saw some kids playing. I tried to talk to them, but they couldn’t hear me at all.

Next, I went to the zoo because it was so quiet elsewhere. But when I arrived, it was suddenly too loud. That’s where I saw my favorite animal, Jimbo. He has a black body, green eyes, and a red nose—he is very cute. Then, he started talking to me. I wasn’t shocked because I somehow knew he would.

I love talking with animals, but I am starting to miss the sound of my family’s voices. I need to change things back, but I don’t know how.
