Hello there, reader!
AI is one of the hot topics today, alongside economics and pop culture, so let’s talk about it and its effects on people in both the short and long term.
First, here’s a quick refresher on AI. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a neural network created by humans using machine learning. It is developed through a system of testing and modification, often built with low-level languages that have Just-In-Time (JIT) compilers, like Rust and C++. With proper training, AI can now operate real-life machinery.
Now that we have a basic understanding of what AI does, let’s talk about jobs. As I stated, AI can run machines, so technically, it can do almost anything a human can do given enough time, thanks to its ability to communicate with other AIs, operate machinery, and constantly improve.
However, there are a few problems. Operating the computers that run AI requires a lot of water and electricity. AI can still make more mistakes than humans while being extremely confident in its incorrect answers. Furthermore, AI cannot understand human emotions as well as we can. Let’s not ignore the socio-economic issues either. Under our current economic system, many people could be left behind financially. Since AI always obeys commands, unemployment could increase as companies might use it to replace workers. On the other hand, its efficiency could be a major benefit.
Ultimately, this means AI will likely replace many corporate jobs, but not necessarily roles that require deep human connection, like teaching or therapy.
In conclusion, I think that AI could be beneficial, but humans are definitely still needed. However, considering the influence of policymakers, I believe AI will eventually be used in almost everything.
Thanks for reading, and bye!
