Are Humans Becoming Slaves of AI?

In our English class we have recently talked about how AI has been affecting us as humans and if students should use AI to help with schoolwork. Some classmates think it is just another tool like a calculator and should be used, while some argue that using AI means aren’t really learning or creating their own work. I personally think AI should not be used by student under any circumstance at all.

Relying on AI reduces individual thinking therefore indirectly making the user more dependent on AI the more they use it, almost like an addiction. If students use AI to generate essays or complete homework, they are basically throwing the chance to learn skills such as critical thinking and problem solving; not to mention most students who use AI to the point it becomes a liability are literal teens who are in their development stages and they are also the people who need to learn skills that will help them be independent. AI takes that independence that they could have gained , away from them.

AI also wastes tons of water, so much so that the earths supply of drinkable water is only enough to last us for 13 more years. AI systems run on powerful data centres that need enormous amounts of electricity. These centres also rely on water to cool their systems down. So, water is not only wasted for electricity but also for cooling as well and this becomes an even bigger problem due to the increasing use of Ai. Resulting in humans being unable reach clean water sources in the near future.

In conclusion AI use should not be accessible to the general public as it is causing the future of human kind to slowly turn into dependent thinkers. AI causes loss of independence in teens and stops them from being active thinkers. So, AI is definitely not just a tool like a calculator, it is like a poison that slowly consumes your brain , it is us as a human kind slowly not being able to use our minds for simple tasks like: remembering, writing, thinking.
