BACK TO 1923

by Arda Efe Solak – 5/A

My dream is to find a time machine. Because I am very curious to see old countries and continents. I’d like to see the beautiful nature and take a breath of fresh air. But most of all, I’d like to see the unbelievable people who succeeded in many challenges.

Also, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk is first on my favorite list. I think he could see the future. When I learned about him, I saw his amazing abilities. For example, in the Çanakkale War, he thought smartly and understood what the other side would do.

Today, my dream just came true about an hour ago! And that time machine was right in front of me. I was about to reach it… and yes! Now I have a time machine. It was not heavy, so I took it and ran home like a cheetah.

Suddenly, I was home with my time machine. I was so excited that I could cry, “YES!” But everyone in my house was asleep. I quietly took my pencil and notes that I would use for my time travel.

After a while, a note fell from my lovely time machine. It said:
“You can use this for only 24 hours. After that, it will teleport and hide its location.”

Without thinking, I jumped into it and set the time. After a while, I was back in 1923! I looked different for a 10-year-old child, but thanks to the machine, I was wearing a military uniform.

I thought I was in Ankara. I asked a man who looked very similar to Atatürk, “Sorry sir, where is the BMM?” He smiled at me. Then I understood that he was Atatürk!

I hugged him and said, “Mustafa Kemal Paşa!” He was very kind to children. I looked around his country and was shocked. How could he do all this? Everyone was working for the belief in the Republic.

When I stepped into the BMM with Atatürk, I saw how serious and important it was — the future of the Turkish Republic. But when I looked at my watch, I saw that my time was almost over.

Me and Atatürk looked at the BMM one last time, and I said goodbye to him kindly. I ran to the time machine and teleported back home.

Now I am 30 years old, and I will never forget this.
