Being vegetarian has always been a controversial topic. While many people stand with the idea of being vegetarian, other people think eating meat is a part of human’s biological needs and that they should continue doing so which brings us to the question would the world be a better place if everyone became a vegetarian?
People argue that eating meat, which is the main way of taking in proteins for a lot of people, is very important for our health and that consuming meat has been an essential part of our lives for millions of years so why should we stop it now? Meat is a great source of protein and people should consume a good amount of protein in order to function properly, however the world today isn’t quite the same as it was before and most of the meat we consume daily in foods we buy is really unhealthy and not even nutritional and while yes, buying quality meat and cooking it home and consuming it that way is healthy, doing that is very expensive nowadays and many people can’t do that anyways.
There are many other ways of taking in the protein you need to function like legumes, dairy products, eggs etc. Vegetarians are actually not eating meat because meat industry isn’t an innocent industry at all, animals are quite literally tortured or treated in very immoral ways just to get killed and get turned into a very processed, unhealthy food which couldn’t even be considered as meat at that point which end up in our everyday foods.
In conclusion, most of the meat we eat today isn’t even good meat and getting protein can be easily done with other foods which don’t torture animals but humans are omnivores so they do need meat too. If the meat industry was moral then all this wouldn’t be a problem but since that’s not the case, being vegetarian would make the world a slightly better place.
