Birthday Party

Today was my birthday. I went to school, but no one celebrated it. We always ask each other about our birthdays, and I always used to tell everyone mine. Of course, I couldn’t say “Today is my birthday,” so no one celebrated it, not even my closest friends. I was very upset and went home and hugged my mother. I asked her if she wanted to tell me anything. She said, “What am I supposed to say?” She couldn’t have forgotten my birthday. I told her I thought maybe there would be a celebration for me. It was already night, but still nothing happened.

Just as I was getting ready for bed, I heard voices from the other room. My mother rushed into my room and told me to close my eyes. When I opened them, I couldn’t believe what I saw. The whole room was full of balloons, and my friends suddenly jumped up for the surprise. My family and my friends had actually prepared everything for me—just as I had hoped. They were late, honestly, and I was already losing hope.

They surprised me again and gave me many gifts. We blew out the candles, ate cake, had fun with my friends and family, and I was very happy. That night will remain in my heart forever.
