Cultural Difference

In my English class last week, we had a very interesting discussion about the value of student exchange programs. The teacher asked us if we think it is a good idea to study in another country for some time. The discussion was very lively because many students have strong opinions about travel and cultural exchange.

First, we talked about the language benefits.  they think that,  going to another country is the best way to learn a language. In class, we learn grammar, but if you live there, you must speak every day. You learn the real language, with slang and everything.” I agree with her because when you are in a new country, you have no choice but to try to communicate.

The student thinks that spending a term abroad the best  modern to the genuine skate park. My cousin went to an exchange program in Canada for one year. Before he went, he was very shy. But when he came back, he was much more independent and confident. He learned to do things for himself.” This shows that these programs are not just about school, they are about becoming a stronger person. Also, they think that, “It can be very difficult at the beginning. You feel homesick and everything is strange.

However, most of us agreed that the positives are bigger than the negatives. As our teacher said, travel and cultural exchange open your mind. You see that people live in different ways, and you learn to respect those differences. For me, a student exchange is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that every young person should try to have. It is an adventure that helps you grow.
