These days, digital addiction has become a big problem. This addiction has negative consequences both collectively and individually. Children never go out and have fun, instead they spend time at home with their phones, while adults watch TV shows or movies all day. Since digital addiction is more common in children and adults, people need to find a solution to this problem. Precautions should be taken to keep people away from technological environments and reduce this addiction.
Children should be educated in schools. They should be made aware of how to use digital devices and how much to use them, because some children do not know how and how much they harm them when looking at digital devices. Providing such education can make children more aware and enable them to use technology more carefully and use it less. Children should also be made aware of cyberbullying and the use of social media. If this education is provided in every school, it can be ensured that children who will become adults in the future have much less digital addiction.
As we know, children take their family members, especially their mothers and fathers, as examples. For this reason, children’s families should not always have phones in their hands. Instead of looking at the phone, you can go on a family picnic, go to the theater or the cinema, go to sports competitions, in other words, there are better things to do as a family than looking at digital devices. People usually look at digital devices because they are bored at home and have nothing else to do and to escape reality, but activities that can be done as a family are much more enjoyable.
People have hobbies in order not to get bored and to have fun. Things like doing sports, doing art, listening to music, cooking are hobbies. People can get bored while they are at home and therefore spend time on social media. Unfortunately, using social media for a long time is addictive. When you are bored at home, you can engage in your hobbies instead of looking at social media. It is much more beneficial for your health if you walk outside instead of looking at your phone for an hour. Therefore, hobbies should be developed.
The less people use something, the less they want to use it. If digital devices are not used for a while, people will want to use them less. When people realize that it is much more enjoyable than watching videos or playing computer games and that we have a more active life, they will minimize the use of technological devices.
To conclude raising awareness of the problems that rise with the increase in digital addiction, taking a break from the use of digital devices such as computers, tablets, phones, and spending their free time by doing hobbies instead of always looking at their phones are precautions against the negative results of digital addiction.
