Finding Life On Mars Or Solving Our Worldly Problems?

We are all curious about space, the universe, planets ad even aliens. We want to find out more about these things so we spend money, time and energy towards these things but some people might argue that before we explore and find out about these things, maybe we should focus on our world’s problems.

Relative vs Absolute Poverty: Defining Different Types of Poverty

In our world we obviously have problems like hunger, poverty, environmental pollution and many more so how much sense does it make to pursue trying to find life in space? Yes, we all want to know and we all are curious about these things but don’t we have to prioritize? When our people are still suffering from hunger, poverty how much sense does it make to spend extreme amounts of money and resources on something that won’t even affect these people in poverty. Even though finding any type of life in a different planet would be an amazing and huge breakthrough for science it won’t even matter for people suffering from hunger or people in poverty because they are firstly just trying to survive. I mean just imagine someone who doesn’t have a house, who can’t find food to eat or water to drink. Can you even expect them to care about life being found on Mars? We have to prioritize. We have to first fix our worldly problems before exploring different planets. Now this doesn’t mean we should stop exploring space or sending astronauts to space. These things are still important and maybe a discovery could even help solve a problem we have on Earth. But like I said before when we can spend the money and sources we have on our problems on earth instead spending these on unnecessary things like trying to find life on other planets while already knowing we probably won’t even discover anything new. For example imagine a scenario where scientists do find life on Mars or any other planet and imagine you were a person who is extremely poor and just trying to find food to eat, how would this news affect you. It wouldn’t.

Thats why I say we should prioritize our own people and our own world first. Discovering new things about space is great but unnecessary while we have so many people suffering here on Earth. When we fix these problems then we all can be happy about any discoveries about space or planets.
