Follow The Light

One day, instead of blue, the sky started raining green, and everything changed. I was in class, looking through the window. The lesson was math, and I was not in the mood to listen. I just zoned out looking through the window, thinking about random stuff. The weather was cloudy; there were gray clouds, and it looked like it was going to rain. There wasn’t a hint of the sun; it seemed like the clouds took over the sun. The weather was depressing. I saw a raindrop coming from the sky, and one other came. The clouds started pouring rain droplets like it was their tears. Then I noticed something was off; I looked at the rain droplets; they were green! How could that be? How could it rain green?

I turned my head from the window to tell my classmate if she’s seeing the same thing as me; was it really raining green? She was looking at the board, I called out to her, but it was like she was frozen. Everyone in the class looked frozen, not moving or not even blinking. I tried to call out to them but they weren’t responding. Suddenly, the room was filled with sunlight. I looked at the window; I saw the brightly shining sun. The sun was back! I looked closely; it was still raining. I could see the green droplets coming from the sky but there weren’t any clouds, it was like the sun took the spotlight. I ran outside; people were frozen in the hallway too. I went to the garden. Our school garden seemed off; it seemed like it was the entrance of a forest. I felt a rain droplet touching my shoulder. Suddenly, a bright door appeared in front of me. It was shining brightly, as if it wanted me to enter. I felt really curious and opened the door. There was bright yellow light coming from the door. I hesitated but decided to enter, and I entered through the door.

I blacked out. After a few minutes that felt like hours, I opened my eyes. I heard a voice: “Kayla.” That was my name, or was it? My mind was really blurry. I looked in front of me, there was a creature; a creature that had wings, it was a fairy! She had hair in a bun, big wings, and a green dress on. How did she know my name? She said, “Hi, I am Bella. I am a fairy. You must have a lot of questions about what is happening and why you’re here. I am here to answer them all.” I couldn’t believe it, first green rain droplets and now a fairy? I said, “Why am I here? Why were all the people in the school frozen, and why was it raining green?” She smiled and said, “You love nature, don’t you? Since you were very little, you loved flowers, trees, animals, and nature as a whole. You spoke to the trees, like you knew they would understand you. I saw you in a forest one day; you were a little kid, talking to the trees and looking at the flowers. I could see that you loved nature. You couldn’t see me but I knew that one day, you would gladly help the nature, and that day came.” I was shocked; I asked, “Yes, I love nature, but how can I help, and what even is the problem?” She had a sad look in her eyes; she said, “The balance of nature is breaking. The trees whisper of their pain, the rivers cry out as they shrink, and the flowers fade before they can bloom. The world is changing, and not for the better. I knew that the green rain droplets would get your attention, and don’t worry, your friends will turn back to the way they were.” I stared at her, asking, “But what can I do? I am just a girl.” The fairy reached out to me with a necklace in her hand. It seemed like it was something magical; it had a charm that was glowing. She gave it to me and said: “This is yours, it will connect you with nature, and soon you will learn to guide it, very soon. It will shine brightly when the time is right, and you will know what to do. When the time comes, follow the light, it will show you where to go. I will see you again soon.”

I blacked out and woke up in class; it was a math lesson, and everyone seemed normal. My classmate asked, “Are you okay? You’ve been looking out of the window for a long time. It’s like you zoned out.” What does that mean, was it all a dream? I looked at the window. The rain has stopped and there was a rainbow. I felt something in my hand. There was a necklace in my hand, it was the same one that the fairy had given me. So it was real, it wasn’t a dream! The fairy’s voice echoed in my mind: “It will shine brightly when the time is right, and you will know what to do. When the time comes, follow the light, it will show you where to go. I will see you again soon.” I knew that everything was about to change, and when the time comes, I will be ready.
