Golden Goal: Is it Better or Not?

Imagine you opened your eyes in the 2002 World Cup finals. Türkiye qualified for the quarter-finals for the first time. The opponent was Senegal. Türkiye was playing very well, and our supporters were amazing. They supported the team with great energy.

There were no goals in 90 minutes, so the referee gave extra time. In the last minutes of the extra time, suddenly Ümit Davala ran through the right wing and crossed the ball to İlhan Mansız. Then İlhan Mansız scored a super goal — the golden goal of the tournament!

Our manager ran across the whole pitch after the goal. Our supporters cheered and shouted with joy.

In my opinion, full extra time is better than the golden goal. Because when your opponent scores a golden goal in extra time, there is no chance to come back. But full extra time gives a better challenge and is more exciting for the fans.
