Inside People’s Minds

One morning, I woke up and realized I could hear everyone’s inner voiceAt first, I thought I was going crazy. I heard my brother thinking, “Whers my blue hodie?” But his mouth didn’t move. Then my dad walked into the kitchen and thought, “I hope the meeting today goes well.” I looked at him and said, “Good luck,” but he just smiled, not knowing I heard his mind.

I got ready for school feeling nervous. On the bus, it was like a radio in my head. So many voices. A girl behind me was thinking about her cat. The boy next to me was repeating math formulas in his head. I couldn’t stop hearing them. I tried to cover my ears, but it didn’t help.

At school, it was hard to concentrate. During class, I heard my teacher thinking, “I need coffee, I’m so tired.” My classmates were thinking about everything—food, games, crushes, and even about me. One person thought I was weird, and it made me sad. But another person thought I was kind, and that made me smile.

Later, I found my friend sitting alone. He was smiling, but in his head, he was thinking, “No one really cares about me.” That made me feel bad. I sat with him and said, “I care about you.” He looked surprised. “Thanks,” he said quietly. I didn’t tell him how I knew.

By the end of the day, my head was full of other people’s thoughts. It was too much. I just wanted silence. That night, I whispered, “Please take this power away. I don’t want to hear anymore.”

When I woke up the next day, everything was normal again. No more thoughts, only peace. I was happy, but I also remembered how everyone hides feelings inside. Now, I try to listen better, even if I can’t hear their minds.
