Protesters demonstrate on August 16, 1962, demanding Mandela's release after his second arrest. His wife Winnie, whom he had married in 1958, joined the protests. Mandela was sent to a penal colony off Cape Town, where he spent 13 years laboring in a quarry.

Labor or not

Every item we own, every building we step into or even anything we eat is a product of labor. It is undeniable that labor has a key role in any topic but do we really have a grasp on how important labor really is or do we value our laborers as they should be valued?

Labor might be the least paying job regarding the effort given. It is highly physically demanding and easy to get an injury. When you look at it this way an insurance should come with the job but that isn’t the case. Many laborers aren’t even granted a health insurance despite their working conditions. They are not nearly paid enough, and their work is taken for granted. But it is in our hands to fix it.

Laborers rights should be protected as labor jobs are on the more dangerous side when it comes to occupations, and their work is needed for other fields, we have to consider their health and wages. The government and employers must frequently inspect the sites for any danger and they must be sure there is not any child workers as it is strictly illegal. The sites should be kept in humanly conditions and any injury must be treated immediately free of charge. A better health system comes in handy with this but we have to take care of our laborers no matter what.

So we can say that labor is taken for granted and our laborers need many more rights on this topic and a secure insurance. We owe many things to this non-caped heroes. With the minimum wage they make and the work and sweat they put into their jobs we should appreciate them more and take care of their rights as much as we can
