Once upon a time, there was a big and powerful country called Asgardia. This country had a very beautiful and intelligent princess named Lavender.
Princess Lavender had been very close to her mother since she was little, but she lost her mother a year ago, and this made her very sad. Her father, the king, and the people of the kingdom were worried about her because Princess Lavender wouldn’t leave her room.
However, one day—the first day of April—she wore her favorite navy blue dress and joined the royals’ breakfast. She looked cheerful for the first time since her mother had passed away.
After breakfast, Princess Lavender spent time with the citizens and made jokes with them. All day, she tried to have fun, even if it wasn’t considered proper for a royal family member. But after that day, she went back to her sad mood. This continued for years.
One day, her father became fed up and asked her what the reason behind her sadness was.
“Because every first day of April, my mother would take me away from the palace. We would go to a peaceful place and have fun by making jokes. Her aim was to escape the stress and seriousness of palace life. It was my favorite day of the year,” the princess said.
The king became emotional and made a decision.
The next day, he declared the first day of April as April Fools’ Day. And now, we still celebrate it as a day to be more relaxed and playful.
