Life Without Supplies

Hi, I’m Onat. Today I’m going to tell you a story directly from the mouth of an African child. He will share his daily life, routines, and the harsh realities he faces.

Hi, I’m Bamba. I currently live in Africa. I haven’t been getting enough energy or food since I was born. I started working for money at a very young age because I know that money equals food. I have a brother beside me to help and motivate me. We work for water and food, and that’s it. Sadly, our work does not earn enough money for food and water, so our father and mother also work to provide for us.

When we wake up, the first thing we do is carry water from the water valve to our home. It usually gets us through the day. After that, we often play with the neighbors, but it doesn’t last long because we realize we need to work again. We work for hours and then go back home to eat the tasty rice our mother prepares. I usually go to sleep after I finish my food.
