Hello, my name is Alp Yosif Aboulaban, and today I will be talking about medication tests on animals. This is a topic that many people disagree about, but I believe that it can be acceptable depending on the type of medication and the purpose of the test.
When I say “depending on the type of medication,” I mean that we should think about whether the medicine is important, safe, or useful for humans. Not all products are worth testing on animals. For example, if a company is creating cosmetic products like makeup or skin creams, I do not think these should be tested on animals. Cosmetics are not essential for human survival, and there are many people who would happily volunteer to test new products. In these cases, animal testing is not necessary and should be avoided.
However, some situations are very different. When scientists are trying to create treatments for serious and life-threatening diseases, the risks are much higher. For example, finding a cure for cancer requires a lot of testing, and the early versions of these treatments can be extremely dangerous. We cannot test them directly on humans because a patient might suffer severe damage or even die. In situations like this, scientists often rely on animals because their bodies can react in similar ways to humans’. Although it is unfortunate and sad, using animals for testing can sometimes save many human lives in the future.
In general, my opinion is that animal testing should only be used when there is no safer option. If the product is unnecessary, such as cosmetics, we should avoid using animals. But if the goal is to cure serious illnesses and protect human lives, then animal testing may be acceptable.
To sum up, I believe that the decision depends on the reason behind the test. We should always respect animals, use them only when absolutely needed, and continue searching for safer and more humane alternatives.
