Mind Reading

It was supposed to be a regular day when, suddenly, the second I stepped into the kitchen, I could see what everyone was thinking above their heads. I rubbed my eyes, thinking I was going crazy, and even pinched myself just in case it was a dream—but it wasn’t.

I quickly packed up, grabbed my backpack, and left the house. While sitting on the school bus, I could still see everyone’s thoughts floating above their heads. When lesson time arrived, the teacher gave us an exam, and I decided to take advantage of my new mind-reading ability. I pretended to ask questions, knowing that the answers would appear above the teacher’s head because she was thinking about them. I did this for every question I struggled with.

When it was time to hand in the papers, I felt extremely confident. After some time, the teacher graded the exams and handed them back to us. Not surprisingly, I had the highest grade in the class.
