More Than Just One Teachers’ Day

Many people believe that teachers should be appreciated more often, and honestly, I think this idea makes a lot of sense. As one of my friends said, “Teachers work so hard and deserve more appreciation.” When we think about it, teachers don’t just teach lessons; they also spend long evenings preparing materials, marking tests, and sometimes even worrying about students more than we worry about ourselves. So only celebrating them on Teachers’ Day feels a bit limited.

Another friend wrote, “Every day should be Teachers’ Day, not just once a year!” Of course, having a celebration every single day is not really possible, but the message behind it is still important. Teachers shape our future in ways we don’t always realise at the moment. Without their effort, a lot of students wouldn’t find their real interests or discover what they can actually achieve.

In my opinion, our school could do more to recognise them regularly. For example, there could be a “Teacher Story of the Month” in the school magazine. Sometimes students could write thank-you notes, but not in a forced way—more naturally. Even simple things like being more respectful in lessons or showing that we are trying can make a big difference, although we often forget it.

Overall, appreciating teachers more often would create a more positive school environment, and it would remind us that they play a huge part in our lives, even if we don’t always say it clearly.
