Not Just Trends

Google defines fashion as “a popular or the latest style of clothing, hair, decoration, or behaviour.” But is that all fashion is? I don’t think so. Can’t clothes express our feelings, thoughts, or personalities? I believe every person has their own unique fashion ideas, and those ideas directly affect how we dress. And how we dress reflects who we are.

Most people think of runways, designer brands, or the latest social media trends when they hear the word fashion. But fashion is not just about appearance , it is one of the most powerful forms of self-expression. When you feel cozy, tired, or sad, do you reach for bright, colorful outfits, or do you prefer dark, comfortable clothes? I think we all know the answer. What you wear, and how you wear it, can say so much about your emotions and state of mind.

Even if you don’t consider yourself fashionable, your clothing still tells a story  about your past, your culture, and your family. Think about wedding dresses. Some brides may feel that traditional dresses aren’t modern enough, but fashion isn’t only about what’s new. It’s also about honoring our history. Wearing traditional clothing is a beautiful way to show love, respect, and admiration for your roots and your ancestors.

Fashion is also a form of art. It opens a door to endless creativity. You can play with colors, shapes, and textures to create something that feels like an artwork you wear. Fashion isn’t temporary or defined by trends. You don’t have to change your style just because an influencer says something is “out.” True style is timeless when it reflects who you truly are.

More importantly, fashion creates a space where everyone can feel seen. Whether you dress to blend in or stand out, what matters most is that you feel comfortable and confident in your own skin. There is no rulebook, just your story, your choices, and your voice through style.

At the end of the day, fashion is deeply personal. It’s not about dressing to impress others; it’s about dressing in a way that makes you feel authentic. When your outfit matches your personality, your mood, or your heritage, that’s when fashion becomes something meaningful, something truly yours.
