Promotion of Tourism

Tourism is an economical source that depends on factors like a country’s geographical location and cultural and historical heritage. Is it more effective for a country’s government to promote tourism or to protect it’s heritage by keeping it away from the public?

Tourism can bring economical advantages to countries. An example of this is Türkiye, which gains tens of billions of dollars thanks to it’s luck in tourism. If it wasn’t for this luck, Türkiye wouldn’t have all that money. What’s meant by ‘luck’ here is the amount of touristic locations in Türkiye. There are all kinds of ancient cities scattered in Türkiye because of historical heritage. Then there are many other touristic locations like in İstanbul, such as mosques and palaces. Tourism can positively affect a country’s economy.

Tourism is good, but it has some downsides in protection of heritage. Some of the touristic attractions are labeled as museums which can destroy it’s nature. For example, Hagia Sophia Mosque was a museum for decades, but in one of the recent years it has been changed to a mosque once again. Now people can go there and pray.

However, in my point of view both can be done simultaneously. It is possible to promote tourism and protect cultural heritage at the same time. First of all, tourists should always be searched their pockets etc. before they are let in. And a ragher controversial take which I support is that tourists from other countries should be charged a lot more than local tourists to protect heritage even more. There should be security and security cameras everywhere inside of the area. There should be warning signs everywhere without ruining the nature and scenery of the attraction. However, even though local tourists are charged less, they should be seemed equal as foreign tourists to the security. Another crucial point is that the artifacts displayed in the museum must be protected in an unbreakable transparent box.

Basically, in my perpective a country’s heritage can be protected and tourism can be promoted at the same time. Foreign people should be charged more, security should be better and active 24/7, artifacts must be protected well.
